Thomas A. Miller, a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away at his home on April 21, 2019. He was 96. Thomas lived a full life; serving in World War II, forming and owning successful businesses, and being dedicated to God, his loving wife Kathleen, his family, and his church.
Thomas was born in West Jefferson, North Carolina on January 15, 1923 to the late Barney and Della Miller and lived in Guilford, Maryland with his six siblings. He attended school in Ellicott City. Thomas started working in the building business with his father at the age of 15. Thomas served his country during World War II, protecting freedom across the world, surviving both Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Thomas returned to carpentry, eventually starting his own construction company. Thomas was active in his church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Royal Rangers leader, and was deeply involved in prison ministry into his 80s. He loved spending time with Kathleen and family at their beach house he built, as well as boating, fishing, and pitching horseshoes.
Thomas is preceded in death by this wife of 75 years, Kathleen. He is survived by his sister, Mary Miller; loving children Judith Lyon and her husband Lou, Janice Bradsher and her husband Curt, Tom Miller, Jr. and his wife Darlene, and Susan Miller and her husband Charles Reeder; devoted grandchildren: Steve and Deanne Lyon, Tom and Tim Miller, David and Brian Bradsher, and Chris and Nick Boswell; and great-grandchildren: Sarah, Andrew, T.J, Brittney, Austin, Garrett, Ruth, Sam, Lydia, Ethan, James, Adeline, Ryan, Audrey and soon to arrive Kate and Kathleen.
