Barbara Jean Waring, 88, left us on October 15, 2020 with her family by her side in Laurel, Maryland.
Barbara was born January 30, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama. She eventually moved to Jamaica, Queens, New York and then to Charleston, South Carolina. Her marriages produced six children. Her sons Vernon and Gregory proceeded her in death. She was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in the early 1990’s by Pastor Walter R. Dean in Hampton, Virginia.
Anyone who knew Barbara knew that she loved her family. She was blessed to witness a lineage of four generations and she was so happy to see the first black president. She has 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with. In her free time, she enjoyed watching westerns, the Golden Girls and the Andy Griffith show. She loved to go on bus trips and we all know how much she loved the casino! She was a very strong and independent woman. She also spoke her mind…whatever came to mind, came to mouth. That’s what we loved about her. She always made sure to have on her lipstick and earrings and truly loved a compliment…especially from a handsome gentleman.
Barbara is survived by her daughters and sons Stephanie (Wallace) Frazier, Diane (Waring) Faucette (husband Jack), Richard and Jeffrey Wallace and her siblings, Alethia, Gwendolyn, Francine and James (Louise), Victor and Ronald (Patricia). She also leaves behind her best friend Billy Martin of Newport News, Virginia.
Barbara, Ma, Mommy, Grandma and Granny will be lovingly remembered and missed.
