Dr. Rochelle Curtis, daughter of the late John and Ruby Renwick was born on December 15, 1948 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Dr. Rochelle Curtis entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2020 at the age of 71 after a vigilant battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Dr. Derek Curtis and loving mother to her children, Derek Curtis, Don Curtis and step-daughter Dawn Meyers; grandmother to Alaiyah Curtis, Kayla Meyers and Yassin Curtis. Rochelle was beloved by her siblings, Dr. Frederick Stewart, Jake Stewart, and the late Wilma, Mary Stewart. She was also a thoughtful and caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dr. Rochelle Curtis valued family and friends and was a confidant to many.
After graduating from Aliquippa High School in 1965, Rochelle obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of the District of Columbia in 1974 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1978 from Howard University. Dr. Rochelle Curtis was a member of the American Dental Association and National Dental Association.
Dr. Rochelle Curtis had a fulfilling career, serving the community as a dentist for about 40 years. She established her first private practice on Queens Chapel Road, Hyattsville, MD and her second private practice by Prince George Plaza, Hyattsville, MD. She also was a contract dentist for Mumby and Simons for about 13 years.
Dr. Rochelle Curtis was a faithful servant to God. She was a woman of character and principal. Despite the many challenges with her illness she remained optimistic, kept her great sense of care and concern for her family and had wisdom and compassion for others. Rochelle touched the lives of many and will truly be missed. Her family and friends will forever carry her memory within their hearts.
