Eugene Corrado, Sr. Obituary

Eugene J. Corrado Sr. Of Berwyn Heights, Maryland was called to heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ on April 09, 2021.

Gene was the 5th of 6 children born to Joseph and Anna Corrado. They were both first generation immigrants from Naples, Italy.

As most of us know things were tough back then with all the lingering effect of the Great Depression. He learned early in life, that life was not easy. He saw and understood that to get ahead an make a life for himself he was going to have to work hard and work hard he did. Yes Gene was a hard-working man who always believed family came first.

He married his loving wife on October 03, 1953. Yes, they were married for 67 plus years, and they were both happy and proud of it. No one said it was easy and they had their struggles and ups and downs as all married couples do. However, they both had something else too, it was a strong Catholic up bringing and lots of determination to honor their marriage vows and make their marriage work and work it did.

Gene liked to think of himself as a tough and hard man who could get things done. There really was not a tough or hard bone in his body. In all honesty his bark was a lot worse than his bite. All the little kids and pets flocked to him. The grandchildren adored him and their special time together whether it was to go on a stroll or a trip to the park it was quality time well spent.

Gene’s favorite past times were family gatherings. He just loved to be surrounded by family. All were welcome, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, the more the merrier. It did not matter what we were celebrating - the Holidays, a birthday, a cookout, a trip to the beach or just all of us having a dinner together. That is what made Gene the happiest. That is what brought out his infectious smile and that grin. Boy did he have a grin like no other. Often it looked more like a smirk. It was if he did something or had just got one over on you, but you were not sure what and there was nothing you could do about it. Yes, that was Gene, our Pop. He laughed with us and cried with us too. He was a man’s man. It makes us all smile to think about him, but we have all lost a few tears as well. He always seemed to amaze everyone with what he could do with what he had to work with.

Gene loved enjoyed fishing and hunting. Just being out on the water for a boat ride. Outside is where Gene wanted to be, shooting his guns, or going hunting. He also loved having a vegetable and flower garden. He loved to see things grow and bloom. I can still hear him saying “lets go, get a move on its burning daylight, come on let’s go.” There is always something that needs doing. We all loved our Pop, and we are sure going to miss him. Gene is survived by his ever loving and amazing wife Joan E. Corrado; his four sons Eugene J. Corrado Jr. (AKA Butch), John K. Corrado, Christopher A. Corrado and Craig L. Corrado; his three daughters in law Cheryl, Staci and Marilyn. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister Josephine Daley and his many nieces and nephews.

Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers - they are very much appreciated.
